VITALITY – ecosystem of Innovation, Digitalisation and Sustainability for the widespread economy in Central Italy – is a project financed with the Mission “From Research to Business” of the PNRR (Mission 4, Component 2, Investment 1.5) and involves the participation of 24 subjects from universities, research institutions and private entities from Abruzzo, Marche and Umbria. These territories have socio-economic, urban and territorial characteristics that unite them, in particular: low population density; their significant historical, environmental and landscape value; the spread of the production sector and the relative concentration of infrastructures along the coast; the widespread presence of valuable primary productions and finally a structured and significant presence of Universities and Research Centres.
CONNECT (https://www.connectcentre.ie) is the world leading Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Research Centre for Future Networks and Communications. It is funded under the SFI Research Centres programme, which has established a network of SFI Research Centres focusing on key research areas in Ireland.
CONNECT brings together world-class expertise from ten Irish academic institutes to create a one-stop-shop for telecommunications research, development and innovation. We engage with over 40 companies including large multinationals, SMEs and start-ups.
In the energy harvesting context CONNECT has a working group called ‘sustainable IoT’ that develops energy harvesting based low power IoT technology platforms, modules, networks, simulation model, energy efficient algorithms and testbeds taking sustainability and life cycle assessment into consideration.
e-peas develops and markets disruptive ultra-low power semiconductor technology. This enables industrial and IoT wireless product designers to substantially extend battery lifespans and eliminate the heavy call-out costs of replacing batteries, without in any way compromising on reliability. Relying on 15 years of research and patented intellectual property, the company’s products increase the amount of harvested energy and drastically reduce the energy consumption of all power consuming blocks within wireless sensor nodes. Headquartered in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, with additional offices in Switzerland and the USA, e-peas offers a portfolio of energy harvesting power management interface ICs, microcontrollers, and sensor solutions.
